Nerys and Kira at Hoo Farm
Well I have just got back from taking Nerys and Kira to their new home at Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom in Telford and i some how think that Nerys might not want to come back to me coz her cage just won't ever be big enough. They travelled up well although Nerys decided that the travel cage just doesn't need that handle any more. I met Wil at their new enclosure which in Pouched rat terms is like a palace. I think this is what Nerys wished the rat room would look like. They basically have a bathroom sized (that was the only room in a house I could think of as an example of the size) enclosure with loads of branches, tubes, ropes and parrot toys to climb on and in and their next door neighbours are 3 hand reared meerkats who I was very lucky enough to get to meet and stroke. Kira after flying off my arm climbed to the highest corner she could find and Nerys couldn't wait to go off scavaging for food and filling her pouches and she seemed totally unfazed by Wil being there. Nerys and Kira will be having their own write up on Hoo Farms new website and Wil has promised to send me plenty of updates and pic's of their progress. The park will be open again on the 19th March 2011 for the summer and people will be able to visit the girls there. For more information about the park you can visit the website at
