The Arrival of Our Litter of Six
The footage below is the recording from the early hours of 9th April 2010 when Nerys gave birth to 6 beautiful Pouched Rat pups.
As ever these things cannot be planned so the placement of a food bowl right in front of the nest was a little disheartening but this did not entirely prevent us seeing what happens. Dan spent a lot of the time in the nest grooming and resting then 4hrs 9mins into the video Nerys eventually comes to the nest to stay. 4hrs 12mins she starts to become very active and eventually kicks Dan out of the nest. It is from this time onwards that Nerys can be clearly seen to be pushing and checking herself below, markng the arrival of 6 beautiful healthy pouched rat pups. Throughout this time Dan can be seen to return on several occassions to check on her, until eventually going to sleep next to her.
